Matt Perrin is an artist and printmaker practicing on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja. His artworks draw inspiration from the natural world, particularly the subtle nuances of memory that evoke a sense of familiarity with the local landscape. Matt's practice is characterised by an experimental approach to relief printmaking, with a focus on the expressive potential of woodblock techniques.
Influenced by traditional eastern & western woodblock methods, Matt carves and prints by hand. This approach allows him to explore tonal variations, creating nuanced textures and depths. The direct manipulation of the printing process also fosters a sensitivity to mark-making, as the application of pressure becomes an integral element of Matt's visual language.
